Search result not respecting the default note sort order

Bug report

Search result not show what I set as default such as Date Updated: New → Old in Inkdrop v5.9.0-beta.0

Environment

  • Platform: macOS
  • Platform version: Sequoia 15.0
  • App Version: v5.9.0-beta.0

How to reproduce

Chose any item from Sort By and set as default, then searching something, but the result search is shown as Best Match instead of my default setting.

Hi Bundit,

Thanks for the feedback.
Yes, it is intended that the app automatically switches the sort order to ‘Beat Match’.
It’s possible to support preserving the sort order to the current one, but I think it would depend on your workflow and I’m not sure if it works for other people.

on one side I like the idea of having a saved sort order depending on the tag or notebook / folder.
on the other hand it can get confusing if one forgets the sort order for one view. it then needs to be clearly visible in the header bar of the list view that a specific sort order is used / forced.

I also like to create priorities via tags. while it would be cool to have such a feature built in I would like to sort by this (either by my tags or a built in priority attribute).
For example when I want to list all “active” tasks it would be nice if I could sort by priority to plan my day easier.
Then the “completed” tasks can be still sorted by modified date which is fine as this then shows me what I have done recently if questions of the client arise.

I agree with Marco, I would actually like to see a sort by tags!

I think it’s fine the way it is at the moment.
When I start searching, I don’t care about the previous sort order because I want to find the note with the best matches.
I personally don’t see a use case for a default sort order other than best match when searching.
I rarely change the sort order when searching.

Just to be clear, when clicking a tag on the note list to filter by tag, it already preserves the current sort order.

Yeah, that’d be another story though, I think it’d be nice to have the same UI of the note list header bar like the mobile app:

Yeah, that’d be nice to have.

Same here. So, it looks like it depends on a personal preference.
As Marco pointed out, it’d be nice to have the UI to quickly check the current sort order.

Thanks for letting me know your thoughts!

My view sounds different here. I am sort of familiar with viewing on what my last updates are. I can then readily refer and jump into that to amend or continue my work.

Best match is fine but it would be nice to be an option to permit me to set as default rathan out of control.

Thanks @Bundit_Jianpinitnan for letting me know your workflow.
While I understand your reason behind the request, I’d prefer to have less number of options in the app to keep it simple.
I need more input to determine if the app should add the option for keeping the sort order when searching.
