Vibrant UI inconsistency on macOS

For the Vibrant Dark UI, it seems to work fine at night but during the day, becomes a dim gray that reduces visibility of the text. Is this intended behavior or related to some issue with how OSX handles light/dark during day/night globally? I haven’t been able to find any documentation related to it.

Environment

  • Platform: macOS
  • Platform version: Monterey 12.1
  • App Version: 5.4.3

How to reproduce

Using the vibrant dark UI during the day turns it gray, but at night it has the expected and intended frosted glass effect.

Actually nm, figured it out. The UI has issues in day mode in OSX, so have to turn off auto and set to dark in order for it to appear properly.

Hi Yue,

Thanks for the report.
Yes, that’s by design of macOS because there is no specific parameter for setting ‘vibrant-dark’ in the recent macOS version.
It uses ‘under-window’ instead, which makes the window background glassy but the color conforms to the system settings.
That’s why you have to set the system appearance to dark mode.
