Recognize the proper installation method when offering an update link

Bug report

If I install Inkdrop as a .deb package and click “update” in the update window, the update window should either take me to the download link or download .deb automatically. It shouldn’t automatically start the download of the .zip version of the software.

I don’t have a RPM-supporting VM at the moment, so I can’t say if the same is true for the RPM version as well.

Info

  • Platform: Ubuntu
  • Platform version: 17.10
  • App Version: Stable-1 (last happened with with 3.15.0)

Reproduce

  1. Install Inkdrop from the .deb package.
  2. Wait for the update to come.
  3. From the update window, click on “update”.
  4. Notice that your default browser started the download of the .zip version instead of .deb.

Hi Aleksandar,

Thanks for the suggestion.
I understand opening a url to a zip file is not useful.
However it can’t determine which package system is being used on your system.
So I’d like to change it to open the download page instead.

Thanks!

As of v3.17.0, it will open the download page when you click “Download” button on the update window.
Thanks for the report!

Third time my name is listed in the changelog. :grinning:

Thank you for being so quick to respond every time.

Glad to hear that. As always, I appreciate all your support!
