Inkdrop Intermittent Hanging: How to Enable Logging?

Bug report

Inkdrop becomes unresponsive and must be force-quit. This happens intermittently and seemingly without specific cause.

Info

  • Platform: macOS
  • Platform version: Catalina 10.15.2
  • App Version: 4.5.1

Reproduce

Intermittent; cannot reproduce reliably.

Hi there! I’ve been experiencing intermittent crashing/hanging of Inkdrop (becomes unresponsive and must be force-quit) on macOS. How can I enable logging so I can get a better idea of what’s happening? The dev console is not useful because I have to force-quit and restart so any errors are cleared.

Hi Prescott,

Thank you for reporting it.
That’s strange.
Did you find any pattern on it?
For example, it happens when you saved a note, when syncing, etc.
You can run the app from Terminal ( /Applications/Inkdrop.app/Contents/MacOS/Inkdrop ) to get console outputs from the main process.

Hi Takuya,

I haven’t been running into this issue lately, and was never able to reproduce it reliably. I assume the issue was with my local machine and not with Inkdrop; I just wanted to see the logs so I could debug. If it comes up again I will run Inkdrop from the Terminal and see if there is anything interesting.

Thank you!
