No idea how this entry can be edited, but let me add additional information this way:
Platform: Windows 11
App version: 5.11.6 (yes, I am using the latest update according to the app)

and YES I have checked the troubleshooting guide (even though this checkbox is unchecked, again no idea how to check it after publishing this issue report)

This bug is preventing ANY work with Inkdrop on my Windows 11, no creating of new entries, no saving of entries, nothing.

It is a significant problem, not a minor nuisance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Logout and re-login “solved” it.

Hi @Patrick_Thomas ,

Thanks for reporting it. Glad it solved.
Do you remember when it started happening? Like, after updating the app version?
I hope it won’t happen again.

Hi, I think I may have encountered the same bug.

Environment
Platform: Windows 10 Home
Platform version: v22H2
App Version: Ink Drop v5.11.6

I was working in Ink Drop, I copied text from one note, created a new blank note, and pasted the text in, and then the error message popped up “Failed to save note, missing > found a bug”

The debug text in the error message was
Debug info

{
“stack”: “not_found: missing\n at 62198 (C:\Users\Scott\AppData\Local\inkdrop\app-5.11.6\resources\app.asar\main-195.js:2:397334)\n at s (C:\Users\Scott\AppData\Local\inkdrop\app-5.11.6\resources\app.asar\main.js:2:1163289)\n at 34214 (C:\Users\Scott\AppData\Local\inkdrop\app-5.11.6\resources\app.asar\main-214.js:1:221)\n at Function.s (C:\Users\Scott\AppData\Local\inkdrop\app-5.11.6\resources\app.asar\main.js:2:1163289)”,
“status”: 404,
“name”: “not_found”,
“message”: “missing”,
“error”: true,
“reason”: “missing”,
“docId”: “note:oXRuCD-v”
}

I had not updated Ink Drop recently or done anything like that. The error pop up continued to appear and blocks other work as described in the original reporter’s post.

I logged out and back in as the previous post suggested, and that resolved the issue of the error pop up for me. When I did that the new note that I had tried to create was no longer there.

Hope this helps with tracking down the issue!

Hi @Scott_McBride ,

Thanks for reporting.
According to the error message, the app couldn’t find the note with id note:oXRuCD-v even though you successfully opened and edited it, which is super weird.
Because it means that the note disappears while editing, or the app tries to look up the wrong database.

Looks like both you and @Patrick_Thomas are on Windows, so it might be a platform-dependent issue as I’m on macOS and I’ve never had such an issue so far.

Can you please try rebooting your computer so that we can make sure that a duplicate process is not running?

Thanks for a quick response Takuya. I have rebooted my computer since, but closing and reopening Inkdrop (without rebooting) was sufficient to resolve the error pop up.

In case it’s relevant to the duplicate process hypothesis, I do occasionally have times when Inkdrop on the PC manages to somehow generate a conflicting note edits with itself. To be clear, I am only editing notes on the computer and am not also editing notes on my phone or anything like that.

I have some of those notes in the trash still, so could potentially pull more details from them if its useful and you can direct me on what would be helpful

Thanks for the info, @Scott_McBride .
I’ll fix it if I manage to reproduce it on my machine.
Since it happens randomly, please let me know if you find how to reproduce it.

Do you get an error like “Object has been destroyed” in Developer Console when you encounter this issue?
