Empty Search View confuses this user a bit

Bug report

When using search (or “Filter” from the full list) and get to the search results screen, if one finds no matches the screen is a) hard to drag around as the note viewing area is empty and has no handle at the top of the window to move the window around with, b) doesn’t seem to allow searching/filtering by tag and c) doesn’t make it clear how to go back to the full list. Info

  • Platform: (macOS)
  • Platform version: (Mojave/10.14.5)
  • App Version: (4.1.0)

Reproduce

  1. Open inkdrop
  2. Search for something that doesn’t exist
  3. See results screen.
  4. Select search all notes
  5. Put cursor in search box and delete search term you entered
  6. You are hopefully here: https://d.pr/i/5CNqmW

I see that I was missing the left most menu that would have allowed me to select all notes again now to escape from the search view. It wasn’t clear to me that I was missing that

Hi James,

Thank you for reporting it.

Yeah, that’s confusing! I’ll add a draggable area on the editor’s empty slate.

It’d be nice to have a command like core:note-list-show-all-notes so you can quickly get back to the all notes view with a shortcut key.

Thanks again!
